Further expanding DBI's patent estate for automated, multiplex protein biomarker systems

WALTHAM, MA - July 1, 2008- Decision Biomarkers Inc., a leading developer of protein biomarker analysis systems for pharmaceutical research and development, today announced the company's PATH® technology has been awarded an additional United States Patent (number 7,384,742) by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The patent applies to polymer substrates used in isolating, reacting and microscopically analyzing materials. "We believe DBI now has the strongest, most comprehensive intellectual property estate for nitrocellulose-based surface chemistry, the protein assay substrate of choice in the drug development industry," according to Coco Montagu, DBI's Founder and Chairman. The ultra-thin, nitrocellulose-based PATH® slides are available through DBI distributors in various formats and dimensions. "Based on its performance and the rapidly expanding market adoption, we feel the PATH® surface chemistry to be far superior to other commercially available protein-array surfaces," said Roger Dowd, DBI CEO and President.
